The national teleconference on cracking down on IPR infringement and counterfeit and shoddy goods was held in Beijing on March 18. Vice Premier and Head of the Leading Group on Cracking Down on IPR Infringement and Counterfeit and Shoddy Goods Wang Yang attended and delivered a speech. Minister of Commerce and Deputy Head of the Leading Group Gao Hucheng also attended and made a report on the work of cracking down on IPR infringement and counterfeit and shoddy goods in the country in 2014.

Gao pointed out that, in 2014, local and member departments sincerely implemented the decisions and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and the arrangement of the leading group on cracking down on IPR infringement and counterfeit and shoddy goods, increased work strength and gained obvious achievements. The work of cracking down on IPR infringement and counterfeit and shoddy goods stepped into a new stage across the country. Related law enforcement departments carried out a series of special campaigns on key sectors and products including the Internet, markets in rural areas and rural-urban continuum, TV shopping and drug, traditional Chinese medicinal materials and automotive fuel oil; public security organizations launched 426 cluster battles, closing and shielding more than 3,400 illegal websites, seizing 26,000 tons of counterfeit and shoddy agricultural means of production and conducted quality promotion actions in 375 production concentration areas. At least 22 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) built information sharing platforms combining administrative enforcement of law and criminal justice. Meanwhile, system construction of laws and regulations was promoted, publicity and education were strengthened and intellectual property international exchanges and cooperation was carried out actively, gaining positive appraisal from all walks of life.

Gao stressed that, in 2015, according to the decisions and deployment of the State Council and targeting at key fields and products, local and related departments would conduct special campaigns, and launch the “Refreshing” action to maintain the image of “Made in China” overseas, strongly promoting the information disclosure of administrative penalty cases of infringement and counterfeits, optimizing the long-term mechanism of software legalization, actively promoting system construction of laws and regulations, optimizing the legal environment of cracking down on infringement and counterfeits.

Responsible officials of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, as well as those from Liaoning, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Anhui made speeches respectively in the main venue and sub venues. About 120 people of the member units of the leading group on cracking down on IPR infringement and counterfeit and shoddy goods and related departments attended the conference in the main venue.
