US-based craft brewer Alltech's Lexington Brewing and Distilling is to launch canned India Pale Ale (IPA) in April 2013 as part of its $20m expansion plans.

The IPA, which features citrus and floral aromas, will be sold in packs of four 16oz cans and will be ideal for selling at sporting events, according to kentucky.com.

Alltech's Lexington Brewing & Distilling national sales manager Matt Cordle was quoted by the news agency as saying that the IPA is really the little piece of the puzzle the brewery did not have in its portfolio.

"The IPA will bring us all together," added.

The proposed expansion project will also include introduction of new canning and kegging lines at the company's Angliana facility as well as renaming its Kentucky Light brew as Kentucky Klsch and selling it in cans.

The company is also planning to launch a taproom and find a site for its new brewery.
