Remote monitoring and tracking firm Telular Corporation, an arm of Avista Capital Partners, has acquired commercial telematics companies - Reltima and GPS North America – having expertise in local fleet management market.

Reltima, which offers comprehensive and cost effective solutions for GPS fleet tracking and fleet performance for light duty vehicle fleets, has GPS North America as its largest distribution partner.

As per the agreement, the duo have come under the umbrella of Telular's SkyBitz division, which has its forte in remote asset tracking and information management solutions. They are expected to help SkyBitz grow in the commercial telematics sector.

Based in Woburn, Massachusetts, Reltima distributes its GPS fleet management tools to its Master Dealer network across North America. Its Smart Antenna is an in-cab GPS fleet tracking device.

The Smart Antenna, when coupled with Reltima's Perigee customer portal, offers an array of location based services, driver and vehicle performance data, route management and cargo status with a view to adding efficiency in management and reducing fleet operating costs.

GPS North America, which has its headquarters in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, designs fleet management solutions such as asset tracking, hours-of-service (HOS) compliance, vehicle/driver dispatch and fleet reporting, all of them clubbed under SignalTrack brand.
